The Catalyst Men’s Retreat: Kern River

What to Expect

A 3-day whitewater adventure on the Kern River for growth-minded men to renew and reconnect. Unplug in nature, reset your nervous system, and reconnect with your values.

You will come away from this experience with a renewed commitment to your values, and a commitment to be accountable to the group for the actions that will bring your life into alignment with your values.

❋ Intentional Structure

We blend guided moments, open exploration, and space to reflect—so the experience feels both focused and fluid. Participation includes 4 weeks of preparatory work before the retreat to prepare participants for the experience.

❋ Collaborative Energy

Connection is a core part of the process. You’ll learn just as much from the group as from the content itself.

❋ Expert Facilitation

Led by Matt Nichols, an experienced guide who knows how to hold space, encourage participation, and keep things moving with purpose.

❋ Support & Accountability

This experience prioritizes preparation, safety and respect—so you can show up as you are and fully engage in the process. Participation includes 6 group sessions after the retreat to support follow through and integration.

  • "This was a transformative experience, because it invited me to take a deep look at who I was and who I wanted to become. Being surrounded by like-minded men created accountability and camaraderie that I had never experienced before. A highlight was sharing with the group a genuine vision of who I wanted to be as a man. For the first time, everything I conveyed felt authentic and real. I was able to be vulnerable without feeling alone. Because of this, I stepped into the next chapter of life with clarity and intention. "

    John B.

  • "Before this experience I had a life that looked perfect on the surface – but underneath it I felt stuck, restless, and anxious. Despite doing everything 'right,' I wasn't fulfilled. Through Matt's facilitation and the group's support, I realized I wasn't burnt out or lazy – I was afraid of leaving my comfort zone. It was a turning point. I finally admitted I wanted something different, something more aligned with my values and curiosity. The transformation didn't happen overnight, but the foundation was laid in this group. Coach Matt's guidance created a space where I could be honest with myself and challenge my comfort zone. His leadership with integrity and care inspired real change.”

    Nikita I.

  • "As a guide and mentor, Coach Matt is deeply committed to the growth and evolution of those he works with. Through his facilitation of this men’s group, I began to see shifts not only in my physical body, but in how I show up in the world. I have learned how to slow down, reconnect with my body, and remain calm under overwhelming pressures. The men’s group gave me a grounded space to explore vulnerability, accountability, and emotional intelligence. I recommend this experience to any man who is ready to build not just a stronger body, but a more resilient and authentic life."

Day One: Friday, September 11

Arrive & Set Intentions

We depart Los Angeles together (transportation is included) and arrive at our destination in the early afternoon. We take time to settle in, get comfortable, and connect with the group. Together, we consider our goals, hopes, and direction. This is about aligning with ourselves and with the journey ahead. This is a chance to reconnect with what brought you here—your questions, your hopes, your turning points—and consider how they’ve shifted or deepened.
